Druffine

My cats Mona and Lisa have been diagnosed with eosinophilic granuloma complex when they were about a year and a half. That was in 2003/2004. The EGC is some kind of skin condition and maybe/maybe not connected to an allergic basis. No real healing known, just some treatment with cortisone to help with the symptoms.

A couple of weeks ago, Lisa came through with a eosinophilic "bubble" on her bottom lip. I had a befriended vet over who gave her some cortisone and antibiotics. It went away.

Yesterday, I found a big eosinophilic erosion on Mona's top lip. Just great.

Problem is, we didn't have any problems for over 3 years. I didn't change anything, kept the food and everything the same and thought I had all the allergy stuff ruled out. We were doing great and now it seems to all start again. I could cry. Why does it come back now? Why does it come back at all? Haven't my cats suffered enough already?

I don't know what else to do but take them to the vet and let them have hard cortisone derivatives that make them all lazy, fat and diabetic...

Anybody any experiences with pets with skin conditions or on cortisone?
