Out of the Closet?

I wondered what kind of experiences you made..

1. How did you get into slash?

2. Does your significant other know about you reading / writing slash?
How was his/her/their reaction? Did it improve your sexlife?

3. Do other friends/family members know about it and how was their reaction to you reading/writing slash?

permission to take to your own lj of course

1. How did you get into slash?

I found it by accident. I was on Yahtze(sp) fan fic site looking for some Angel/Cordy stuff, don't shoot me! and I saw a link for slash. Didn't know what it was. When I found out I was a bit squicked at first but thought I'd read some any way. The first one I read was Sea Change A/L. That's it I was hooked.

2. Does your significant other know about you reading / writing slash?
Yes

How was his/her/their reaction? Did it improve your sexlife?
He just says ew. Not got a problem with it, just doesn't like the idea of two men together.
It hasn't really had an effect on our sex life either way

3. Do other friends/family members know about it and how was their reaction to you reading/writing slash?
Family members no. They know I drabble but I don't tell them what about...
My friends know I read. None know I write. Some of them find it totally abhorent that I read it so I don't mention the writing thing...

[identity profile] druffine.livejournal.com 2004-09-03 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't shoot you, was a SpuffyFan once.

He just says ew. Gotta love the men's ability to sum things up. lol.

It's not easy, is it. It sucks sometimes not to meet your friends and tell them "wow! I got virtually fucked yesterday and it was sooooo good."
*hangs head* ... lol.

A friend of mine made a random comment one day that the majority of slash was written by females, I, being so innocent, had no idea what slash was so he explained.

This was probably 2 years ago. My brother then showed me fanfic for Stargate SG-1 last year and I started to read it and then moved on to Harry Potter fanfic.

I discovered slash when I realized most of the gen/het stories were very insipid and often written by very young writers. I read a few slash pieces that knocked my socks off and haven't turned back since.

My brother and mom know I write slash and they don't like what I write but they support my writing anyway. I tell people I write fanfic but I don't usually tell them it's slash because most hardcore hets just don't seem to get it.

I have no significant other, so .. I imagine that if I did, the only way it would improve it is if he were also curious about guys and I could somehow arrange a threesome.. Ooh did I just say that? ;)

*nods*

It's a shame, isn't it? They don't realize what they miss. Heehee.

How did you get into slash?
Trawling the net looking for fanfiction stories, discovered slash about 3 months ago, and haven't looked back!

Does your significant other know about you reading / writing slash?

No S.O. during this time, but I would be honest about my ..ahem.. addiction. And having a S.O. in any form would improve my sexlife 100%!

Do other friends/family members know about it and how was their reaction to you reading/writing slash?
Friends, no, not really. Family members, yes. Their reaction? They take the piss in a major way, especially with my schmoopy stuff. Don't care, I love it anyway. Damn 'norms', that's all I'll say.

[identity profile] druffine.livejournal.com 2004-09-03 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
..and haven't looked back!

Who could? LOL.

..having a S.O. in any form would improve my sexlife 100%!

mine too. *cries*

My first slash fic was Lazuli's Reposession. I was talked into reading it after swearing I'd never read a slash fic. After that, i was hooked. I read nothing but slash now.

My hubby knows I read/ write it. He doesn't really care. He's pretty open that way. Sex life? Mmmm. Yep.

Family does not know. His parents would disown me. They are veryt religious to the point of going to anti-homosexual rallies... things like that. I can't see myself ever telling them.

[identity profile] druffine.livejournal.com 2004-09-03 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"Repossessions".. one of my first fics too. Definitely my first Xander slash and hooked from there on too.

Great you can be open with your hubby. Not so good about his parents but people can be that way - they're the ones that are wrong with their intolerance.

[identity profile] piratepurple.livejournal.com 2004-09-02 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, after watching Pirates of the Carribean, I stumbled onto [livejournal.com profile] pirategasm just because I liked the name of the community. The very first fanfic I ever read was Jack/Will. I thought yum, and wondered if I could find some containing Spike or Xander, and from there stumbled on to Repossession, then Excessant, and hence, [livejournal.com profile] bloodclaim, which is where I met you.

I have a long-distance girlfriend that I left behind when I moved north. She betas my stuff. :)

My friends and family know, they mostly think it's funny.

[identity profile] druffine.livejournal.com 2004-09-03 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Repossession" there is it again. This fic changed lives! To the good of course.

So you aren't that long into slash? I am here for about 2 years now, can't imagine going back.

[identity profile] twilightsfic.livejournal.com 2004-09-03 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
My partner pointed out an article on slash that 'Bitch!' did and was like,"You like Buffy so much and you've never heard of slash?" My first slash author was Kayla (soo good).
THe first answer answers the second question as well. My partner doesn't read slash but turned me on to it, so to speak. : )
My partner indulges my need for experimentation, which makes it easier to write more realistic sex scene. Usually goes something like, "Honey, would you help me out here? Would it really work if I laid like this and you were like..." You get the picture.
Some friends and family know I write Slash, I got my cousing addicted too. I just mostly say I write short stories. : )

[identity profile] druffine.livejournal.com 2004-09-03 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, Kayla is very good.

Sounds wonderful how you get along with your partner. And it must be a lot of fun to have such kind of fic-research. lol.

Great, thank you.

[identity profile] adis723.livejournal.com 2004-09-04 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi, don't really know you, but I avidly read your writing
and this seemed fun.

1. I accidentally stumbled upon fanfic in general about 6 years ago while trying to find out how old James Marsters was (my mom said he was too old for me, sadly he kinda is; he's nearly twice my age.) I followed a random link and started reading Spuffy stuff. That got real boring real quick, then I started reading Spillow, again boring, then found some slash and out of shear curiosity and boredom read some Spander. Was hooked. That was about 3 years ago, I refuse to look back.

2. Two of my ex-boyfriends knew I read fanfic, but not that it was slash. Right now I'm single and there's this guy that is trying to win my affections and I told him in a desperate ploy to turn him off. It didn't work.

3. My parents know I read/write fanfic, but not that I read NC-17 or slash, they would be so disappointed. My best friend knows I read NC-17 slash, that I write slash and that I'm attemptimg my first NC-17. She doesn't 'get it,' however she's awesomely supportive of it as an art form.

[identity profile] druffine.livejournal.com 2004-09-04 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi! Doesn't matter you don't know me - time we get to know each other.
Can't say anybody said he was avidly reading or even reading my lj regularly before. lol.

I am a sucker for quizzes - can't help it.

I refuse to look back.
Yeah, I am into slash for about two years and James Masters is nearly twice my age too, and I really don't like to admit that I was a SpuffyReader once. It all seems so wrong now, doesn't it. Girls! *shudder* lol.

My discovery of slash fic was after the break up with my ex but we are really good friends (if me liking his company and him mooning over me qualifies for that) and he is still the one person knowing the most stuff about me, slah fic addiction included. First he was a little stunned, then this evil glint got into his eyes and he offered himself up for experimentation. Hah. Oh I would so have taken him up on that if he hadn't had that new girlfriend. *cries*

It didn't work. *giggles*

Well, my mom knows about it, about me reading slash and it somehow slipped when I was out to lunch with my mom and dad on his birthday and she tried to out me as lesbian to my dad. He said nothing would shock him anymore - so I said Kirk and Spock (his fave tv show again and again and aaagaaainnn). He did a looong blink then. I don't think he'll ever get over it. He is kinda homophobic too.

Best friends and their support is soo important. I lost enough to know that. Btw, *looks around* Is anybody watching? Look at this, just found it.

Yes, I am bored, answer? And thanks so much for joining [livejournal.com profile] mm_fic_catalog, made me happy.

[identity profile] adis723.livejournal.com 2004-09-04 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
It's funny, Spuffy is a pairing I just can't stomach anymore. Gives me hives. There's some het out there that I'll occasionally read, but Spike/Buffy is just...eww.

You're bored, too? I'm making an icon, reading, writing and listening to music and I'm still bored.

And [livejournal.com profile] mm_fic_catalog has fueled a lot of my readings today. Some oldies but goodies and some stuff I hadn't come across.

Oh and that link? Hee! And very helpful since I'm a bit stuck with my first smut piece. I even bookmarked it!

[identity profile] adis723.livejournal.com 2004-09-04 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
And I retardedly posted that as a new comment instead of replying. Sometimes I wonder about myself.

[identity profile] druffine.livejournal.com 2004-09-04 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh that doesn't matter - lol - since this is my own entry in my own lj I get all the comments wherever they may ..be.

You're a funny girl, I am just browsing through your journal - coz it's just great to read someones 'diary' to get to know them a bit.

Yeah, the catalog is my new baby, it's just two days old. The recs are all my recs, those are fics I am reading and I have bookmarked. People tell me I have the best. Heee. But an archive needs building up, quanity will increase every day from now on til octobre at least.

Chat me up if you want to.
Oh that link, yes, I needed to look up details and names of special parts of anatomy for the Chris/Vin private scene in [livejournal.com profile] the_porn_studio.

Oh and I love your icons. Wish I had space for extra pics but I have to wait a year. *sighs*

[identity profile] adis723.livejournal.com 2004-09-04 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
You browsed my journal?
:: gets all giddy with giddiness ;) ::

Yeah, reading [livejournal.com profile] vin_no_cent threads are my addiction, since my name is Vinnie, actually, it's Vanessa but everybody calls me Vinnie, Vin or V, so it's a bit of a cheap thrill for me. You're doing great with him.

I can't seem to give up my icon space. I'm unemployed and I still find (and by 'find' I mean beg my mom for) the money to keep my account up.

I need to set up a YIM, AIM or MSN, haven't gotten around to it. I'm lazy like that ;)

[identity profile] druffine.livejournal.com 2004-09-04 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
OH my god what did you do! I just spent half an hour figuring out what Eliza should wear and what eyeshadow goes best with which lipstick! NO - not talking bout clothes. nope. *squealscough*

And did you have to pick my fave icon out of yours? *sighs* I am all distracted now, I think I have a shirt!kink. lmao. it's true.

After octobre I'll be only online at the weekends and I just can't see me paying that (for me much) money for pics I am not able to use for like three comments I might do.

Thank you very much for the compliments on handling Vin. I am trying to teach him manners and stuff but he just keeps bitching, but I'll win in the end, rule #10 is not working for him. nope.

Btw, I always thought of Vanessa as a lovely name.

I'll have to go and beg my mom for money too - the bank did not give me the formerly promised loan. *kicks them*

It's 5:30 am and I might fall asleep any minute now - just so you know if there is no comment forthcoming anymore.

[identity profile] adis723.livejournal.com 2004-09-04 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm...what's gonna keep you from us in October? If ya don't mind me asking.

Yeah the Eliza thing sucked me in, too. And thank you for the name compliment, I've never liked it. It's a very common name in my area.

Go, sleep, have lovely dreams! Good-night!

[identity profile] druffine.livejournal.com 2004-09-04 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
My boss sends me off to study at the university, have to stay in a prehistoric dorm with no internet connection but two pretty old library pcs everybody wants a go at *shudder* for the weekdays. At the weekend I'll be home though.

Oh smg is pretty.. *nope - didn't say that!* And where are the boys, I want to cloths them too! *whines* *re-reads* *headdesk* I wanna STRIP them!

Oh I am fighting my sleepiness. *heads lolling around and my cats stare at me, waiting to lose so they can jump me to sleep on me* lol. really!
