Smooch (one of m two cats) gets a cortisone injection every 4-8 weeks because of asthma. So far I haven't noticed any side effects (he's been treated for over a year) his appetite, strenght and mood have not changed at all. I guess each cat reacts differently, tho..ask your vet about dosage and side effects. I'm sorry about your kitty, I hope she'll get better soon :)
Hey and thanks for your answer. I am really afraid of giving Lisa cortisone because of the side effects but I feel a bit reassured to hear that your cat is okay with it.
I'll go to the vet first thing next week and guess I have to tell him that I finally am okay with cortisone (he tried to get me to give it to my cats the last time the illness came through but we got over it with antibiotics and skin stuff). I don't want my cats to be ill and if cortisone is the thing that will make them okay, I will give it to her/them. (They're sisters and get it both, just Mona takes a little longer... *sighs*)
Btw.. it doesn't matter but what do you pay for it?
Around 24€, but I guess it depends on the dosage. Cortisone is tricky, at first I wasn't very convinced either, but the Vet (who is indredibly helpful, btw, he always takes care to explain everything he's doing) told me one of his cats lived a very long life (12 years) despite (or thanks to) the monthly injections. Well, I guess he would, lol, but I do trust him :)
