druffine | Dead puters

Sometimes life just sucks.

I installed a new program and had to reboot and wonder what? My puter just shut down.
Frowning I pushed the on-button and know what? He started and showed the nice Intel4logo and then just stopped.
I got this very bad feeling in my stomach and tried again... and again... and again... No change.

I opened the case, checked all cables and connections, pulled out the battery etc. Guess what? Intel4logo. Yay.
I called a friend of mine, interrupted sex, I did and he told me to check the cables esp. for the hdd. Already did that I whined and he said: "Well, I thought your hdd was acting up. Thought it would need a bit longer until it breaks down." GRRRRR. And what? Why didn't he tell me? GRRRR.
He'll come tomorrow and check it for me. He has the "magic hands". Sometimes he just has to look at a puter and it works again. Hope that works tomorrow. Chances are bad though.

*cries* I don't have the money for another harddrive and if I use my other I lose the files on it...

Well, desperate and frustrated I called my brother to bring me back my laptop. He borrowed it some time ago. Yep, he said, will do. Meet you in two hours. WHAT? Why the hell in two hours? You are about 10 min away from my apartment. He had it taken to his girlfriend and it was still there. GRRRR.
Three and a half hour later I had my laptop back. Looks like everybody has sex when I have puter trouble. GRRR.

So I start my laptop, establish the internet connection and two minutes later, guess what?

Damn fucking hell, blasterworm. GRRRR. So "shutdown -a" and download patch. Install...

X Error. You have to install WinXP SP 1 first. Huh?

Thought that was already installed. Hm. Checking and wonder what? My brother had reformated and installed WinXP sometime ago *without* telling me. Okay, so to Windows and update.

Long story short, deleted partition, made a new one, formatted, installed windows, updated and now I have a working system on my laptop again. Go me.

I just hope, my friend is able to save my big beauty tomorrow. If not, that would be a thing to make me cry. I love my babies, my puters and my cats. And my brother will never get my laptop again. GRRR.
