Does anybody read subject lines?

Hey flist!

K, so my fingers are itchy to type something but I can't get my brain together for just one fic. I have a carousel of possible paragraphs for more than three of my fics in my head and I can't think about one fic long enough to write it down.
YAY.


I'm reading "reality_bends to Desire" right now. A verly long Spike/Wesley, NC-17, angsty and hot RPG. First entry is here.

A couple of weeks ago joolzmp7 gave me this link to this Dictionary-Thesaurus-More site. It's free of course. The site also offers a toolbar which is pretty handy. You can subscribe to a Word-of-the-day-Mailing list so you receive a mail with a word, the explanation of the word and usage examples (mostly from some quotes and such) every day. Quite amusing at times. Pretty good. Yesterday's word was "teetotaler". *snicker*
When I received the first mail I wanted to start writing word-of-the-day-drabbles but I just am no drabbler.

Oh and all you drabblers out there... can you please use CUT TAGS? If you don't know how to do cut tags look in lj FAGs FAQs or get the basics here. Same thing applies to all the longer entries and fic post. It's annoying to scroll and scroll and scroll through the flist...

Anyway, I've got a question:

I read a lot of fanfic and once in a while I stumble over this

I really don't know where this came from...

Why do people write this in the header???
I mean of course they know where the fic came from when they have written it.
Out of their heads. Are they ashamed of it so that they feel the need to distance themselves from it? *frowns*

Another goodie: Common errors in English (http://www.wsu.edu/~brians/errors). Time in lit II well spent. Heh.

I've read enough fanfic to tell within the first sentence if it's something I want to continue reading... sometimes that header phrase sets me back - I'll end up having deep thoughts about why the author didn't know. And what was wrong with them...

Spike/Wesley fic - I don't believe I've happened upon that... think Jenny (http://www.squashduck.com/ltd) (lj??) wrote some, but I'm not positive... I'll have to go poke around Reality Bends.

As a non-native I have a lot to learn. *sighs*

I read a looot of fanfic too, wouldn't say the first line though, but I know if the time reading will be wasted after the first paragraph for sure.

Don't know why people feel the need to justify their fics. Really. When I read a fic I don't think about why the author wrote it or what a horrible person/pervert s/he must be to write that particular fic. Pfft.
Well, sometimes when it's a real bad!fic I gave a thought about the author and where s/he dragged the courage to post it from. *snicker*
I know, I am evil. People tell me that quite often.

Oh and Jenny... *smiles dreamily* Wow, yes. I read most of what she has on her site. Love her "A touch of Earth" (Spike/Angel).
Wesley is slowly making his way into my heart. Can't help it.

Ups! I think I used something along the line on my fic header. It's a question of low self-esteem. Probably. Thanks for the fic rec and the Thesaurus. I'll have to subscribe it myself too. And Wesley, indeeed, has the ability to slowly crawl under your skin :).
